What the Core i5-7500T is
The Core i5-7500T is a four core, four thread desktop processor from Kaby Lake. It launched in January 2017 with a 2.7 GHz base and up to 3.3 GHz Turbo at 35 W. Four cores at low power cover office towers where multitasking matters without high heat.
Six megabytes of Smart Cache feed office suites with background tools. The 2.7 GHz base sustains multitasking better than dual cores, while 3.3 GHz burst lifts interactive peaks. Thirty five watts fit small cases.
HD Graphics 630 from 350 MHz to 1100 MHz drives office monitors with 4K output. Hardware decode keeps video smooth. No Hyper-Threading is needed with four cores for office loads.
On 14 nm the 7500T sits above the 7400T on clocks at the same power. Makers use it for quiet performance towers. Locked multiplier keeps it stock.
Socket and motherboard compatibility
The 7500T fits LGA 1151 revision 1 only. Two hundred series boards accept it natively, while 100 series may need a BIOS update. Three hundred series boards never support it.
The Socket vs chipset: what decides whether a CPU works guide explains board generations. Small form factor boards pair it with DDR4 for silent offices.
The Core i5-7600T on the same socket adds clocks at the same 35 W. The Core i5-7500 is the 65 W version where power allows it.
Memory, PCIe and cooling
DDR4-2133/2400 or DDR3L up to 64 GB in two channels is the memory support. Dual channel operation helps graphics. ECC is not supported on this consumer desktop part.
Sixteen PCIe 3.0 lanes support graphics or NVMe storage. Office builds rely on integrated displays. Low profile 35 W coolers cover sustained loads.
The 75 mm cooler pattern matches LGA 1155, 1150 and LGA 1200.
Upgrade paths
On the same socket Core i5-7600T adds pace, while Core i7-7700 adds threads. Both reuse board and DDR4.
Past revision 1 a new board is needed. SSD and memory upgrades usually come first.
