What the Core i5-10210Y is
The Core i5-10210Y is a four core, eight thread ultra mobile processor from the 10th generation Amber Lake Y family. It launched in August 2019 for premium tablets with a 1.0 GHz base and up to 4.0 GHz boost at 7 W. Intel ARK lists Amber Lake Y as its code name.
Six megabytes of Smart Cache back multitasking across eight threads. The low 1.0 GHz base stretches battery while boost lifts taps and loads. Configurable TDP from 5.5 to 9 W spans thinnest to fastest tablets.
UHD Graphics up to 1.05 GHz cover tablet displays and external 4K monitors. The chip fits 2-in-1 flagships where pen and portability matter. Four cores keep background sync off the foreground task.
Socket and motherboard compatibility
The 10210Y solders to BGA 1377 as UTFCBGA1377 permanently. Tablet makers tune power per thickness. There is no socketed version.
Soldered LPDDR3 memory and NVMe storage share the thin board. Display outputs run through USB-C. The LGA, PGA and BGA: CPU package types explained guide frames soldered tablet design.
U series and desktop boards cannot take the Y package. The ultra thin ball map is unique.
Memory, PCIe and cooling
LPDDR3-2133 or DDR3L-1600 soldered in two channels up to 16 GB is the tablet memory. Premium 2-in-1 designs fix 8 or 16 GB. Bandwidth peaks near 33.3 GB per sec.
Ten PCIe 3.0 lanes wire storage and board devices in x4 splits. Tablets pair 256 GB NVMe with the chip. No Thunderbolt requirement exists on Y designs.
Passive cooling through the tablet shell covers 7 W silently. The 5.5 W down mode stretches reading time. No fan and no cooler pattern exist.
Upgrade paths
No internal upgrade path exists on soldered tablets. Keyboards, pens and cloud storage extend use. Device replacement is the performance step.
At purchase time the Core i7-10510Y adds cache and boost on the same BGA 1377 family. Later tablets moved to newer efficient platforms.
