Intel Xeon E-2126G socket: LGA 1151

The Intel Xeon E-2126G uses the LGA 1151 socket, second revision. It runs on C242 and C246 workstation boards as an 80 W six core without Hyper-Threading and with P630 graphics.

What the Xeon E-2126G is

The Xeon E-2126G is a six core, six thread workstation processor with a 3.3 GHz base and up to 4.5 GHz turbo. It carries 12 MB of Smart Cache and an 80 W TDP on the 14 nm process. Intel launched it on July 12, 2018 with the E-2100 series for threaded work without Hyper-Threading overhead.

Six physical cores without threading suit licensed software that counts threads and deterministic build farm nodes. The 4.5 GHz turbo keeps single threaded CAD responsive. The multiplier is locked.

UHD Graphics P630 runs from 350 MHz to 1.15 GHz for setup displays. Tray packaging is the common supply, with no boxed part widely listed. Launch pricing is omitted here because ARK and launch lists disagree between $255 and $286.

Socket and motherboard compatibility

The E-2126G fits LGA 1151 revision 2 on workstation boards with the C242 and C246 chipsets. Consumer 300 series boards are not the target, since ECC wiring lives on the workstation boards. Check the board maker CPU list for the exact E-2126G before ordering.

It does not fit 100 or 200 series boards, which are revision 1 for 6th and 7th Gen chips. Boards with display outputs suit this G SKU directly. A discrete workstation card still fits the x16 slot where GPU compute is needed.

Boards sold after mid 2018 accept it with the shipping BIOS where the maker lists the part. The Intel Xeon E-2146G is the Hyper-Threaded sibling on the same boards where thread count matters.

Memory, PCIe and cooling

Memory support is DDR4-2666 in two channels up to 128 GB, with ECC correcting single bit errors. Two matched ECC UDIMMs give dual channel speed with error cover. The P630 shares system memory, so dual channel mode helps display smoothness.

PCI Express arrives as version 3.0 with 16 lanes from the CPU for graphics and storage. A workstation card and two NVMe drives fit the lane budget of a mid tower. Cooling uses the shared 75 mm LGA 1151 pattern at 80 W.

Upgrade paths

On the same socket the step up is a twelve thread E part such as the Xeon E-2146G where threads matter, keeping the board and ECC DDR4. The E-2126G keeps its place where six physical cores cover licensed or deterministic loads.

Moving past LGA 1151 means a new board on a current workstation platform. Owners usually add ECC memory or a faster workstation card before replacing the processor.

Frequently asked questions

What socket does the Xeon E-2126G use?

It uses LGA 1151 revision 2 on C242 and C246 workstation boards. Consumer 300 series boards are not the target.

How many cores does the E-2126G have?

Six cores without Hyper-Threading give six threads at 3.3 GHz base with up to 4.5 GHz turbo, with 12 MB of cache at 80 W.

Which graphics does the E-2126G include?

UHD Graphics P630 from 350 MHz to 1.15 GHz for setup displays and triple outputs without a separate card.

What memory does the E-2126G support?

DDR4-2666 in two channels up to 128 GB with ECC for error cover on long jobs.

How does the E-2126G differ from the E-2146G?

The Intel Xeon E-2146G doubles the threads with Hyper-Threading on the same boards. The E-2126G suits per thread licensed loads.
