Socket FP3 socket: CPUs, chipsets and cooler fit
Socket FP3, also called uBGA906, is the AMD soldered platform for Kaveri mobile APUs. It carries 906 contacts and solders directly to the notebook board. AMD released it in June 2014 with 19 W ULV parts and 35 W standard voltage parts for performance notebooks.

Overview
The platform exists for thin notebooks with real graphics on die. Two Steamroller modules with four integer cores cover multitasking at 19 W to 35 W. Radeon R7 graphics with up to 512 shaders drive notebook panels without a discrete card. Memory stays DDR3-2133 at full voltage or DDR3-1600 at low voltage over one or two channels, with ECC DIMMs supported but never mixed with non-ECC. PCIe splits into a graphics capable link up to x16 plus board I/O lanes.
Because the chip solders down there is no processor upgrade and no board choice after purchase. Notebook makers tune single fan paths for the 19 W or 35 W class. Its desktop counterpart is Socket FM2+, which takes socketed Kaveri parts with the same silicon ideas.

Who Socket FP3 serves
Socket FP3 fits thin performance notebooks from mid 2014 where R7 graphics must carry games without discrete heat. The 19 W ULV class suits ultrabooks with the FX-7500, while the 35 W class suits larger bodies with the FX-7600P. Both share DDR3 memory and GCN graphics.
Within the socket the choice is ULV efficiency against standard voltage speed. The FX-7500 sips power at 2.1 GHz to 3.3 GHz, while the FX-7600P pushes 2.7 GHz to 3.6 GHz with faster R7 peaks. Pick by chassis cooling rather than brand, since both carry R7 graphics.
Memory and PCIe
Memory support is DDR3-2133 at full voltage and DDR3-1600 at low voltage over one or two channels. Dual channel pairs feed R7 graphics where boards wire both slots. ECC DIMMs work but never mix with non-ECC in one system.
PCIe arrives as a graphics capable link up to x16 with PCIe 3.0 speeds at full voltage plus PCIe 2.0 board lanes. Notebook wiring favors the display path with a small storage budget. A SATA SSD matches most FP3 bodies without wasting lanes.

Frequently asked questions
Can an FP3 processor be replaced or upgraded?
No. The chip solders to the board with 906 balls. A faster notebook means a new board or a new machine. Memory on soldered boards also locks at purchase.
What memory does Socket FP3 use?
DDR3-2133 at full voltage and DDR3-1600 at low voltage, over one or two channels. ECC DIMMs are supported but mixing ECC with non-ECC in one system is not. Dual channel pairs feed the R7 graphics best.
How many PCIe lanes does Socket FP3 provide?
A graphics link with up to 16 lanes that reaches PCIe 3.0 speeds at full voltage, plus PCIe 2.0 board I/O lanes. Most notebooks wire the graphics link to the R7 iGPU display path with a small lane budget for storage.
What is the difference between FP3 and FT3?
FP3 at 906 balls carries 19 W and 35 W Kaveri mobile APUs with on die graphics from June 2014. FT3 at 769 balls carries Kabini, Temash, Beema and Mullins tablet and notebook APUs at lower power.
