What the FX-7600P is

The FX-7600P is the fastest mobile Kaveri APU on Socket FP3 for performance notebooks. It runs 4 Steamroller cores and 4 threads at 2.7 GHz base with turbo to 3.6 GHz. Four megabytes of L2 cache cover multitasking. Power is 35 W on 28 nm SHP from June 2014.

High base clocks for a mobile APU keep notebooks responsive without waiting for turbo. Radeon R7 with 512 shaders from 600 MHz to 686 MHz leads mobile Kaveri graphics for 1080p light gaming. Four threads handle study work with background updates. The soldered package means buyers choose the whole notebook.

DDR3-2133 over one or two channels feeds cores and graphics best. The FX-7600P covers 2014 performance notebooks where top mobile Kaveri threads with R7 must fit 35 W.

Socket and motherboard compatibility

The FX-7600P solders to the board on Socket FP3 and cannot be replaced. Memory size locks at purchase on soldered bodies, with SODIMM slots on thicker designs. Boards wire eDP panels with SoC SATA.

FP3 notebooks use the graphics capable PCIe link for displays. Socketed FM2+ desktops cannot take this BGA chip. The LGA, PGA and BGA: CPU package types explained guide explains soldered limits.

Memory, PCIe and cooling

DDR3-2133 over one or two channels suits performance notebooks. Dual channel pairs unlock full R7 speed. DDR3-1600 works where boards wire it.

PCIe 3.0 graphics link with PCIe 2.0 board I/O serves displays and storage. Most builds rely on R7 graphics. Small SSDs lift bursty feel.

Cooling follows the 35 W notebook design with no retail mount. Turbo duration tracks body temperature. Keep vents clear.

Upgrade paths

On the same socket, the AMD FX-7500 at 2.1 GHz to 3.3 GHz with 19 W tuning below saves power, while Beema and Carrizo parts cover newer thin notebooks. All share FP3 boards where listed.

Newer performance portables moved to Carrizo. The FX-7600P remains the mobile Kaveri speed lead.
